Apple have announced that there will be a news surrounding the iPhone 12 at the “Hi, Speed’’ event, which will take place on Tuesday 13th October 2020 at 10am PTD. The first pre-orders could take place as soon as Friday 16th October 2020, while the initial shipments and official launch date could happen on Friday 23rd October.
This is the first time Apple have ever introduced a new iPhone in October, this is due to the backlog of launches of the Series 6 Apple Watch and the new iPad Air because of the COVID-19 pandemic. There are rumours flying around that the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will be unveiled at different times. Apple will reportedly stagger the iPhone unveilings in 2020. The iPhone 12 5.4 and 6.1 model will be launched before the more expensive iPhone 12 Pro.
There are whispers that the iPhone 12 will be released in October and the iPhone 12 Pro will follow in November. This will make the launch the latest iPhone to be released since the iPhone X which was launched in November 3rd 2017.
This event has been labelled to be the start of the 5G era due to the emphasis on the “Hi, Speed’’, as all of the models should get 5G, however, this isn’t likely to be the fastest version of it. We are also likely to see improved camera quality on the iPhone 12 Pro with LiDAR Scanners technology being introduced, which is similar to the iPad Pro.
A few months ago, it was rumoured that Apple were going to cut costs by removing the charger and ear pods from the iPhone 12. We should see if they follow through wit their plans at the event.
There has been conversation on blogs and forums that the graphics that Apple have produced symbolises what products could be announced. The smallest deepest circle represents for Air Tags, the next ring down could be the HomePod Mini, while the biggest ring could symbolise the HomePod. Lastly, the outermost circle may signify the Air Pods Studios headphones.
Apple also announced in June that it would be releasing the first ARM-based Mac by the end of this year. The Apple Silicon Mac is the only device that is has already been confirmed to be announced this could be at the October 13th event, however, the technology giants could hold off until November or December. All of these are rumours however, it could indicate what we could see in the upcoming event.
